The Art of Decision Making.
“Human beings are perceptive not rational” writes Daniel Kahneman, A Nobel laureate for his work in economics and author of Thinking Fast, Thinking Slow, which examines the biological basis of thinking and decision making. Every day we are faced with countless choices and decisions that can be a source of enrichment in our daily lives, or can reduce them.
The root of decision making not only lies in the mind, but in the world of the emotions and the body. We are less logical than we see ourselves to be. The brain functions often on predictions and patterns based on previous experiences and can tend towards sameness. Breaking this grasp of past patterns can be a challenge, yet not impossible, when we invite our body alongside. Making decisions is a a nuanced art, yet one that can be eased when we know where we are going and where we’ve come from, one that benefits from reflection, foresight and in awareness.
