MOTHERING AND CAREGIVING.
For All That Remains Unfinished.
The cups of tea would lay around the house, un drunk, the beds unmade, clothes and nappies strewn upon the floor. It was a feeling of sometimes frustrating, of fraying, no job would ever feel completed.
Caregiving having a unique ability to cast light upon deeper aspects of living that can so easily be obscured until something in life upsurps us. The privilege of caregiving reminds us that we are “full of loose endings,” as psychologist Carl Rogers writes, un tied and un neat, yet consolingly he continues that “there is an order amoungst the chaos”. Amid the loose ends, the non resolutions and the lack of completions there is a humbling. A reminder that life is fluid and unfolding.
